Extreme Venomverse (2023) 1-5, Death Of Venomverse 1-5

This is the fifth Spider-Verse event with the same plot of being hunted for your powers across the multiverse. At least this time it's all action and we have a good villain in Carnage for once. Gerardo Sandoval's wild powerful art is the perfectly suited for Symbiote business.

It's as old as I am but Kraven's Last Hunt is still the apex Spider-Man comic. J.M. DeMatteis pulls off the whole grandiose grimdark thing without the overkill while Mike Zeck just nails the moody noir visuals. It completely washed away the aftertaste of the bland movie.

Kraven The Hunter

While Sony is clearly happy to pump out the big budget equivalent of direct to DVD knockoffs, Aaron Taylor-Johnson put in the work and it shows. Plus, I would have killed for a Sam Raimi era SpiderMan vs. Russell Crowe as Kraven. Thanks to them its at the top of the heap with Let There Be Carnage.

X-Men: Blue Annal (2018) 1, X-Men: Blue 21-22, Venom 162-163, Venomized 1-5

The sequel to Venomverse ups the ante by siccing the variant bodysnatchers on the 616. The Poisons are much more interesting up until the rug is pulled on them by a lazy deus ex machina, but it's all just an excuse for some great art.

Edge of Venomverse (2017) 1-5, Venomverse: War Stories, Venomverse 1-5

I assumed it would be even more stale than Spider-Verse but I found the bitesize nature far more digestible. The shared weakness is the villains. The Poisons feel like a corporate mandate to match Symbiote toyability. It's carried by the art.

Marvel Legends Outriders (Infinity War) 2-Pack

Bundled generic soldiers are always a good time. A swappable head adds some variation, but the plastic feels a little cheap. It's crazy they are still committed to finish the Infinity War set all these years later. We just need War Machine Mark IV and Baby Gamora now.

Spider-Verse / Spider-Geddon Omnibus

I had no interest before the movie knocked it out the park. It turns out all the concerns I had are prevalent in the comics. This Spider-Verse is as isotropic and homogenous as the Cosmological Principle. Plus it had already been done better in the cartoon and video game.

Marvel Legends Beyonder

This has probably been on the top of my wish list for 20 years now and he's almost perfect. I love the maniacal grin and tiny Battleworld, but those are some weak Jheri Curls. He should be rocking a curly mullet. Cowards. His white leather Delirious suit is on point though.
